987 Prompts and Counting: The Cline Milestone

This week I'm hitting 1000 prompts in Cline. We're at 987. The cool part? Everything is logged.

When I told a friend I'd vibe coded a mobile payment system with AI, he asked what the prompt was. Not "what was the idea" - literally the exact words I used to ask the AI to build it. I could search back, find it, and show him the exact prompt that started it all.

That's the power of having a complete history. I can see which prompts cost the most. I can review which ones burned tokens unnecessarily. I can spot patterns in what works and what doesn't.

My first Cline prompt was February 4th. 96 days of vibe coding, averaging over 10 prompts per day. I haven't even counted my console.anthropic.com prompts or the 250+ projects sitting in Bolt.new. The actual total is probably triple this.

GitHub Copilot has gotten better recently, but I don't get the same visibility. Maybe there's a way to collect it all in one place someday, but right now, Cline is the best logging I've got.

Here's what I think about everything else: not much is happening. Technology is ready. The models are capable. What remains is just execution - taking ideas and shipping them. No more waiting for better models or new features. We have what we need.

I don't expect the models to get significantly better. I don't need them to be. What I need is discipline to finish what I start.

This milestone represents a kind of arrival point. A thousand prompts means I've had a thousand conversations with an AI about what to build. That's enough data to know this works. It's enough proof that the workflow is viable.

Now it's just about shipping.
