I'm building my own marketplace concept for Claude Code plugins.
Skills and commands used to be different things. Anthropic merged them. Personally, I think they're two different agentic primitives and should remain separate. But they must know something I don't. Maybe it's about context management. Maybe I'm wrong.
The real opportunity: a place where developers can share, discover, and install tools for AI-assisted development. Not just plugins, but entire workflows and thinking patterns.
What started as a personal project is becoming something bigger. I'm thinking about how skills should be organized. How commands should work. What the friction points are for developers trying to build tools for AI agents.
This is the moment the hobby became a vocation. I'm not just a consumer of AI development tools anymore. I'm thinking about how these tools should work, what's missing, what could be better.
A professional developer with 20+ years of experience, combined with 14 months of intensive AI coding, is producing ideas that feel genuinely new. Not because they're revolutionary. But because they come from lived experience with both worlds.
The plugin marketplace isn't going to be a massive business. But it might be the infrastructure that makes the next wave of agentic development faster and easier.
